Council 1214 Grand Knight's Message

Dear Friends,

A very Happy New Year to each of you, and your families. I’m sure as you read this you will have already been inundated with queries as to what your New Year’s Resolution is going to be. Some of you will resolve to loose weight, others to give up smoking, still others, like myself, are resolute to start exercising more (just the very thought makes me mildly nauseated).

Regardless of what you choose to do, it seems to me that there is one thing that each of us can strive to do and actually be able to keep our resolution. There is an old French expression, Noblesse oblige, which, simply put means, ‘to whom much has been given, much is expected.’ I think that it is an indisputable fact that each of us in this organization have been blessed with an abundance, be it time, money, ability, talent, and the list goes on. Therefore, I think that it’s high time to see and hear

From some of our brother knights that aren’t necessarily active. I invite each of you (by the way, according to the monthly statement I get from Supreme, that’s 284 members) to attend a meeting and see if there’s something for which you might be able to volunteer your specific ability.

That said, we have some wonderful events coming up; our annual Super Bowl party and Chili cook-off will be held 1 February, and our Sweetheart Ball will be held on 14 February. I invite one and all to attend, and if you feel so inclined, by all means, volunteer to help do something.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your commitment to excellence in making 2008 a successful year, and I hope that 2009 will outshine it tenfold.

All The Best,

Jon McDonnell
