Council 1214 Grand Knight's Message

This will be my last newsletter as your Grand Knight and I thank all of those Knights and Angels whose dedication and spirit have made the past two years such a blessing for my family and I. This is a great Council and we must dedicate ourselves to its continued good works. It is by faith that we are saved, but it is by our good works that we help to spread the faith.

Wayne Carroll once again led our team of traffic controllers as we supported the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Fossil Creek Nursery on 22 March. Our role in this event is crucial to its success and we have gained from it quite a good reputation for the smooth way we accomplish this mission. Thanks to all of our volunteers.

We held another 1st Degree Exemplification in March bringing into our ranks two more fine Catholic gentlemen.

On 5 April we held our Spring Dinner Dance and many of you missed a great evening. The roast prime rib of beef prepared by Ed and Monica Rutherford and Barb Martin was superb. Ed and his crew of helpers did a great job and we were proud to name him our Knight of the month for April. Thanks also to Jon McDonnell for his planning and supervision of the event and for all those who worked to give their fellow Knights and Ladies an enjoyable evening. Connie and Kirby Clarke merit particular note for their efforts.

Each year we hold a Corporate Communion at which as many Knights as possible gather with their families at a worship service in celebration of unity and fraternity. This year please plan on joining us as we celebrate this event at the 6:00 PM Mass on 24 May at St. Joseph Church. After Mass, we will meet for a “Dutch Treat” dinner at the Rustic Oven in Old Town.

Finally, we will elect officers for the coming fraternal year at our business meeting on 28 May. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend this important meeting. A slate of candidates willing to serve is on Page 2. Nominations from the floor are always welcome.

Vivat Jesus!

-P. Bridger Parsons, Grand Knight
